Hi School Council.
Just letting you know we’re not having a proper meeting this week due to our SAT’s in Year 6. However, we are having a brief meeting about our IIP award as we are being assessed for this next week. I will come and collect everyone invovled in this at 1pm. Next week will be the actual assessment day so once again no meeting. I really do apologise for this as it is very unusual for us not to have regular meetings. Not to worry as we will be back to normal the week after with a book scrutiny but this time everyone is going to be involved.
See you tomorrow.
Today our Investors in Pupils team did a learning walk to make sure all the classes are keeping upto date with class management. We were very impressed with how you could all talk about your IIP targets. Lots of you were still unsure about the budget despite our assemblies. Therefore tomorrow we are going to do another budget assembly. Your class teachers have been asked to ensure they address it further in lessons so you can ask them any questions you’re still unsure of. Please write on here anything you want to find out.
Hi Bowling Park.
Today only Years 3, 4 and 5 school members met as Year 6′s are doing extra revision for their looming SAT’s! We split into three teams.
Team 1: brainstormed ideas for the GEM Olympic week. These ideas can be seen on our GEM Olympic page.
Team 2: Wrote a letter to Mr Akhtar to give hime some ideas that we can have in our Sports day. These ideas are also on the GEM Olympic page.
Team 3: Wrote a letter to our catering services with some of the ideas that they came up with to improve school dinners. If you have any ideas to improve our lunches, please add them on here.
Next week is our IIP Learning Walk.

Our competition starts on Monday 27th February so make sure you leave those cars at home and get walking ro cycling to school! Remember our school will gain miles and be competing against other schools in Bradford for first place.
Get those legs going and help the environment by creating less pollution at the same time as keeping fit!

What a wonderful School Council meeting we have had today. In my opinion it was the best school council meeting as all councillors were talking and contributing their ideas. As well as this, they all know what they want to do next to improve the school.
Each team with in the school council (The learning walk team, Book scrutiny team, Investors in Pupils team and the Talk for Learning team) explained to the rest of the school council what they have done this half term and the impact it has had. They then continued to say what they wanted to do next half term within their area. From this, we have made an action plan. You will be able to see this soon. If you have any ideas, please let us know on here and we’ll try and incorporate them into our plans. We have started to video some of our sessions so a couple of clips will be put on here to show what we did.
Do you think you have made progress with your work? Is marking helping you to make progress?
Today we have done a Maths scrutiny of all of the class’s books. We have been really impresssed with the amount of progress the children have made in particular with their presentation in their books. Our best books were in year one because of the detailed marking, including the use of pictures. Watch out for our feedback video appearing soon. Keep up the hard work Bowling Park!

We want to know what you would like to see at our SMILE week.
This year it is going to be held on the week of the 12th March 2012.
Miss Brearton, Miss Clark and Miss Kew have already started to book things in but we really want to know what you want.
Let us know below! Try and think of different activities that we have never had before)
What a busy and interesting afternoon we have had today! Mr Herrington joined in our meeting so he could explain how the school budget works. These are the questions he asked us and explained:
1. What is a school budget?
2. How do we plan a school budget?
3. How do we manage a school budget?
Soon, we will be delivering an assembly to explain to how you how it works but for now here are a few things that surprised us:
We were shocked that the school budget is £3,000,000!
The fact that most of the school budget goes on staffing.
The amount Mr Herrington has to manage.
How much things cost to run e.g buying pencils for everyone!
What would you like to know about the budget? Post them here and we’ll answer them in a couple of weeks.
